Comrade Nazo Djeredjian lecture at HMM Beirut
I have had the pleasure to follow a very audacious courageous initiative by Comrade Nazo Djeredjian in the previous week, I salute and greet his sense of initiative and sincere efforts, he gave a lecture the past week inside HMM Club Beirut, discussing the challenges and hardship that the Lebanese Armenian young generation faces.
The content of his lecture, I find little to contrast and disagree with, and my evaluation cannot be that neutral and objective, because Comrade Djeredjian is like my elder brother, in his nature of modesty and tolerance, politeness and magical skills to establish and maintain harmony with his surrounding, therefore, if I testify with obvious positivity, much people will doubt that my motives and conclusions are derived by personally being fond of this gentleman.
And while I agree with what he said, on my own personal perspective, he discussed the results, he probably could not been able to analyze every aspect from all angles, due to the limited time he had for this lecture (around 40 times).
Comrade Djeredjian accepts and tolerates remarks, which is what I have, I think he only mentioned the consequences and results of certain issues, and I will try to add my own contribution.
Comrade Djeredjian points out the issue of our young generation absence from the national fronts, he is correct, and he also is sincere when he makes it clear we do not have lack of manpower resources in this area, but what is the reason?, the older generations have an ability to smooth talk, and emphasize on intervals the need for the young intellectuals to come and help out, but the naïve ones believe this invitation’s serious sincerity, only to find out an older generation holding tight to their positions, by hiding behind a standard of “there are certain protocols and standards, time requirements, you must join ranks, demonstrate ideological awareness, which is often more established with the new comer intellectuals than the ones who have been allowed entrance, because those guys “demonstrated ideological awareness by proving loyalty to the ideology”, which is another mirage and myth, ideological awareness is understood by following then interests of an equation
Today, a huge part of the new generation, due to its ability to be educated on the internet and universities, enjoys much more political ideological awareness, than the present “loyal rank members” and even from the “ideological mentors and apprentices”, do you think this category is welcomes? Think again
The Comrade mentions the internet and how much the dark aspect is accessed easily through the internet, I agree, but it is a matter of personal individual factor, vice was always present since humanity was around, if the person is weak to temptation, he will fall into vice, if he is aware, he will use the internet for personal self-education, among which political ideological and national.
The comrade talks about the dangers of betting, I agree, drugs and homosexuality I agree, but if we want to discuss the crisis of betting, which was always present, and I do agree with him that the internet presents a huge problem, because currently the ability to gamble is much more easy to access, I want to add that gamble always finds soil inside poor low level class environments, and the way to battle it would be to try to raise the social/economical level of Armenians, and, granted, talk is easy (peter – I), it is much easily said than done, I want to be realistic, objective and fair and not throw fantasies
The comrade talks about drugs, and homosexuality, I disagree, this was never a newly serious issue, it was always present, but inside the Armenian environment, ignorant forces thought they can eliminate it through iron fist suppression, and yes, I agree with him, this is becoming more audaciously declared, worldwide, due to the globalist ne0-liberal destructive anti-national new age wave
And how can we try to resist this neo-liberal wave, of course there is no single short answer, but the strategy and ideal answer would be to raise up national identity awareness and pride, and this battle between national identity and anti-national globalism is fought worldwide, and we as Armenians must wake up and realize that this wave has penetrated us nationwide, both inside the diaspora, but also deeply inside the republic, and it has it’s arrogant audacious advocates, those who accuse Armenian national tendency as “ignorant old fashioned backwards extreme people with prejudice”
To conclude, I salute Mr. Djeredjian for his courageous brave sincere noble initiative, and look forward to hear his ideas impatiently
