We Armenians have created walls of our own, this tendency of partisan division and partisan commitment, which has evolved into such a thick wall of dogmatism, where one does not dare in his subconscious mind to try to evaluate and analyze, we have forgotten the very purpose of political parties and ideologies, this is not that strange, in Lebanon the majority of dominating political groups are in fact children of religious communities, and allegiance to the political party has become much higher than the republic, while the Armenian political party, clearly failed to benefit from the Lebanese experience to educate the generations that loyalty and allegiance must be towards the Lebanese republic and the Armenian Fatherland.

Wrongfully accused on opportunism, unstable pattern - More about the distortions and delusions of political ideological patriotic national guidelines

A very natural and random chat remotely with a friend in Lebanon gave birth to this article.

Now some might consider my style and approach, to write articles as a result of this much spontaneous random conversations, as a sign of chaos, a behavior based on a random hasty approach, well that depends on how you might see it, I will not brag and declare that I write articles based on inspirations, or as how Armenians call it, when “My Moussas show up”, (Inspiration) but In the defense of my free style blog-writing, I would try to say that my articles are natural, spontaneous and a result of topics that are still talked about, therefore up to date.

Anyway, I was telling my friend, who shares common ground with me regarding social-economical political vision, yet we are supposed to be on “rival camps”, each a follower of a political school that has once upon a time considered it a taboo to open up to the supporter of the other group.

I declare that I suffer no prejudice, and do not hesitate to speak sincerely with any other Lebanese and/or Armenian, do not see him as someone who I should be alert and cautious, not let go of my guard

Anyway, I was telling him that one of my political ideological comrades from my own group has cut off all ties with me, despite my several initiatives to preserve our social/political ties and friendship, and it was 1 AM in the morning in Armenia, (2 hours ahead of Lebanon), he told me that “of course he will not associate with you anymore”, and since I type more than I read (A personal bad habit), I did not read what he wrote next, kept writing and wished him a good night.

The next day, I read what he had wrote next, and what he had wrote instantly surprised me “Your former comrade will naturally break ties with you, we are all confused, we are unable to determine your political orientation, you keep confusing us, posting on social media pictures of Lebanese political parties, then Lebanese Armenian, and suddenly other pictures of another Armenian political party, based in Armenia”

Surprise and an opinion that justifies your opponents ideas and embraces them, for some it might be provocative, upset, and start an argument, but for me, it represents an opportunity, it provokes my mind and urges me to present a counter arguments, and his words had this affect, but the largest catalyst and pushing/driving force behind his words was the surprise he created.

What surprised me is the fact that the one speaking with this approach and logic, is not a common ordinary person, he is a very well educated intelligent intellectual, and also experienced.

But this is not the first time, that I get surprised and astonished that I meet such a primitive superficial shallow hasty fast conclusion, while I was certain that inside the Armenian diaspora political spectrum, we should have long beyond such ideas.

Therefore, and after having no doubts regarding the mental intellectual expertise of my friend, I conclude that it is not he or his lack or shortage of knowledge that drives him to make these verdicts; it is the Lebanese Armenian political environment and atmosphere, and definitely the Lebanese environment, after all Lebanon witnessed a vicious civil war, where it is not uncommon to create an atmosphere of lack of tolerance to other slogans, Lebanon still witnesses a vertical fierce division and alignments .

We Armenians have created walls of our own, this tendency of partisan division partisan commitment, which has evolved into such a thick wall of dogmatism, where one does not dare in his subconscious mind to try to evaluate and analyze, we have forgotten the very purpose of political parties and ideologies, this is not that strange, in Lebanon the majority of dominating political groups are in fact children of religious communities, and allegiance to the political party has become much higher than the republic, while the Armenian political party, clearly failed to benefit from the Lebanese experience to educate the generations that loyalty and allegiance must be towards the Lebanese republic and the Armenian Fatherland.

Would this level of awareness had been emphasized, my journey to support several political parties could have been grasped, in Lebanon, I consider myself a firm orthodox advocate of the Lebanese Sovereignty, as such it is natural for me to support Lebanese political parties which are not necessarily Lebanese Armenian, when part of the Lebanese Armenian parties embrace this principle and chose these orientation, it was natural for me to approach these Lebanese Armenian political parties, even to choose to make them a higher priority than the non-Armenian Lebanese political parties, I believe this does not make me less loyal to Lebanon, after all, when Lebanese sovereignty was the question at hand, it was and still is my number one priority. I open parentheses to state the fact that my social economical beliefs played also a crucial factor in approaching the Armenian party.

As for my adoption of another political party in Armenia and for that jeopardizing my ties with the Lebanese Armenian party, a very simple observation would have explained the reason, which should not be seen as a confusing enigma and a contradicting controversial or opportunist/unstable behavior, because I remaining on my orthodox path of defending the sovereignty of Armenia, the local Armenian path political speech which I saw as familiar to my vision, added to it my social economical views and the same vision on internal Armenian political field

We Armenians must let go of dogmatism, being judgmental and jumping into conclusions, but instead try to analyze, the bloc-level thinking is hindering our ability to communicate and instead we are choosing the barricade to deal with each other behind the fences – once we let go of our fences and barricades, and try to discuss each other’s motives and approaches, logic and thinking strategy, we can teach each other.

In politics and national public community life, we are all teachers and students at the same time, we all learn from each other – every one of use has a lot to learn and a small dime to contribute to the welfare of the nation

I for one am ready to learn, and claim no absolute superior status of being a mentor.
