Most Pashinyan supporters cannot distinguish between criticism of the Pashinyan government and the State of Armenia.
In the last several years, various hired pens have written dozens of commentaries criticizing the Armenian Diaspora’s hard line toward Azerbaijan and Turkey. Many of these “writers” are lavishly compensated by Azerbaijan. Most of these articles have appeared in various Israeli newspapers. Regrettably, I cannot respond to every one of them; otherwise, I would be writing about nothing else every week.
Last week, for the second time in recent months, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dispatched hundreds of police officers and undercover agents in civilian clothing to invade the sacred grounds of Holy Etchmiadzin. They are supposed to serve the public, not Pashinyan’s personal interests. They should not obey unlawful orders. Regrettably, Pashinyan now has more police officers acting as his bodyguards than soldiers defending Armenia's borders.
With each passing day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is causing further damage to the Armenian Apostolic Church and the reputation of Armenia around the world as the first Christian nation. His actions are a gross violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.
The first paragraph summarizes the findings: “Turkey’s president has enjoyed an unusually powerful sway over the Trump administration. A new investigation reveals the relationship was built by a circle that included Trump’s favorite lobbyist, a key character in the Ukraine impeachment scandal, a Kremlin-linked oligarch, and a shipping tycoon charged with terrorism.”
Since June, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sought to depose the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, and replace him with a more compliant clergyman, thereby violating the constitutional separation of Church and State.
Even though Pashinyan’s stated purpose is to cleanse and reform the Church, his real objective is patently political. He wants to neutralize all opposition forces that could be obstacles to his remaining in office after next year’s parliamentary elections.
Last week, I came across a disturbing 8-page document described as a “White Paper” titled “Clarifying Church-State Relations in Armenia: A Rebuttal to the Narrative of Religious Persecution under Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.” It is dated Sept. 5, 2025.
This is a blatant attempt by the Pashinyan regime to whitewash its shameful attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church, making unfounded allegations about Church leaders and the political opposition.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has spent the past several months trying to pressure Catholicos Karekin II into resigning, thereby violating Armenia’s constitution which forbids government officials from meddling in the Church’s internal affairs.
Շատերը թյուրիմացաբար կասեն՝ «Ռուսաստանը կռվում է ողջ Արևմուտքի դեմ, դրա համար էլ պատերազմը չի ավարտվել», բայց դա մեծ սուտ է, քանի որ Ռուսաստանը ժամանակակից պատմության ընթացքում երբեք չի կռվել Արևմուտքի դեմ՝ ո՛չ Նապոլեոնյան պատերազմների ժամանակ, ո՛չ էլ երկու աշխարհամարտերի ընթացքում: Այդ բոլոր մեծ հակամարտություններում Ռուսաստանը դաշնակից է եղել Արևմուտքի հետ։ Այս պահին, այո՛, արևմտյան երկրները, հատկապես ԱՄՆ-ը, կանգնած են Ուկրանիայի թիկունքին՝ նրան ֆինանսավորելով ու զինելով, բայց դա նույնը չէ, ինչ այդ երկրների դեմ ուղիղ պատերազմի մեջ մտնելը։ Նման բան լինելու դեպքում սա լրիվ այլ և շատ ավելի մեծ պատերազմի կվերածվեր, և հենց դրա համար էլ Երկրորդ աշխարհամարտից հետո մեծ գերտերությունները միշտ նախընտրել են օգտագործել պրոքսիներ՝ իրենց շահերը առաջ տանելու համար։
The Armenian Genocide Research Program (AGRP) within The Promise Armenian Institute at UCLA launched last week a ground-breaking project enabling Armenians to seek restitution of their properties confiscated by the Turkish government during and after the Genocide.
In addition to the mass killing 1.5 million Armenians, the Turkish government occupied their homeland of Western Armenia and seized their properties. Thanks to the UCLA initiative, for the first time all the missing information is gathered in a single depository.
To show that Pashinyan is violating Armenia's Constitution, let us review Articles 17 and 18. Article 17 mandates church-state separation: “Religious organizations shall be separate from the State.” Most people misinterpret this provision thinking that the clergy have no right to be involved in political affairs. That is not correct. As Armenian citizens, the clergy enjoy the same rights and obligations as all other citizens of the country, such as voting and participating in political matters. The state may intervene only if laws are violated.
