Hello from Echmiadzin to Lebanon, from a perspective of a Lebanese Armenian living in Armenia, and dual citizen of both countries
Hello from someone who likes to be as patriotic as one can be towards his double fatherlands, the great republics of Lebanon and Armenia
This article is about the variety of opinions and stances of citizens of Armenia, regarding the dispute between Kiev and the Kremlin
Most people in general, and masses of Small nations, are naturally suffer from an emotional approach to political, social and international issues, are usually more easily affected by the mass and corporative media, the opposite might also be true, the more people are easily manipulated by the media, become an easy target for political deception, and thus eventually this might lead to the undermine of the nations.
People who are usually manipulated, therefore biased, they can be easily dragged into certain directions, I have noticed this phenomenon not only in Lebanon or Armenia, but even in the USA, it became so obvious during my following of the USA presidential elections of both 2017 and 2021
This is one of the flows of Democracy, I remember that the famous monologue Armenian comedian, Vahe Berberian once said in humor that prior to someone being allowed to vote, we must check his IQ, because he might elect a catastrophe,
Of course what he said is not feasible, there are no such standards of IQ levels to be concretely and accurately determined so that such a criteria is applied, but what he said in half a humor reveals and casts upon a very vital crucial essential factor, that people’s political educational level must be evolved, and that leads to successful countries with a mature level of Democracy
But does this necessarily ensure a community with an absolute guarantee, does political education ensure the ability and provides such an effective tool that guarantees that we don’t make mistakes and make the right choices, absolutely not, and in politics there are no absolute rights or wrongs, correct or incorrect choices, everything is relative
Lately, I was astonished and surprised by a social media status of a very well respected member of the Media of the Great Republic of Armenia, I always regard and look up to him as someone who is a well-established Media star, proved himself a success on all levels, political analysis, articles, interviews, his abilities surpass the borders of the Republic to beyond, to the Arabic world, and even though I do not share his political preferences and views, I may never deny that he is a much more advanced element in politics and journalism, than a beginner amateur blogger, or a blog enthusiastic such as myself
What he said provoked my logic, he suddenly wrote something like this on social media with mockery: “Ukraine has decided to not show up for the negotiations with Russia – such a peaceful Ukraine”, it was obvious the last part, the “such a peaceful Ukraine” was an expression of sarcasm
If someone like me had ever written something like that, that would not have been noticed, I write as part of hobby, for I may never claim I am a professional political analyst or activist, but for someone who has a solid reputation in the field, this was beyond my comprehension, I did not absorb this mentality
Dear All who think this way, in this biased fashion, I am sorry to give you my impression, all this seems too biased to me, such too extreme, we Armenians must be more balanced, fair, objective
In the simplest logic, I wonder, if some group enters your house by force, and starts to break your belongings, tears down your furniture, breaks everything, what would be your reaction, how would you respond, would you try with absolute tenacity to hit him hard with everything you got, he is inside your house, is there a red line or a level of your response that is considered much too extreme.
While he is breaking your house, do you invite one of the members of the groups to sit down and drink a cup of coffee with you, if you refuse to do so, does that make you less peaceful?, a war monger ?
If some group decides that part of your family members are simply bad people, extremists, street gangs, and sets himself as the judge and jury, issues this verdict, does that entitle him to enter your house, did your family member accused of being a gangster man ever commit an action that is decided by all the neighborhood as criminal, who does decide, your next door neighbor, or there are agreed upon bodies who issue that verdict
And if you want to make friends with a neighbor in the same neighborhood, or even from building from other neighborhoods, does your close member has the right to enter your house, and say, NO, It is I who is entitled to be your friend, I am the neighbor next door, you either would be my friend, or I will be your worst nightmare, and declares you an enemy and a threat, just because he dislikes the people you want to associate with
This is an extremely dangerous unprecedented situation, this might mean that tomorrow, Turkey and Azerbaijan might decide that Armenia wants to be friends with Iran, and invade us, the possibilities are limitless for such scenarios, Turkey might decide that certain parties in Armenia are far right nationalists and invade
Gentlemen, let us please restore our balance and equilibrium,
And if we are to decide our position based on Ukraine position which stood in solidarity with Azerbaijan, I may say one thing, Russia and Ukraine both acted based on their interests, so in this area, the odds are equal and thus neutral
I want to remind you, that Russia and Armenia have a mutual defense alliance treaty, while There is no such treaty between Kiev and Yerevan
Therefore, we must always keep in mind that there is a side that violated international law and invaded a sovereign country, and we must be very careful before taking a certain side
For me personally, I hope this war comes to an end very soon, war is only a tragedy, it only leads to misery, destruction, tragedies, and pain
May the LORD Safeguard the Great republics of Armenia and Lebanon, and grant us all wisdom
Peace to Ukraine, Russia and Planet earth
